Grad Night is a parent planned and run event to ensure that Senior students spend their graduation night in a safe and fun environment where their hard work and dedication to their education can be celebrated.
According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic collisions are the number one killer of teenagers in America. Nationally about 5,000 teens will die in automobile collisions and about ten percent of those deaths are in California alone. Our goal is to have all of our senior students spend their graduation night in a safe and alcohol/drug-free environment. Grad Night succeeds because it is so much fun that our teens would rather come to the Grad party than go to other parties where alcohol & drugs are prevalent.
That’s easy! Sign up to volunteer. Click on "Volunteer" from the main menu to learn more about volunteeromg or choose the email button in the upper right hand corner to send an email to our planning crew. There are many, many jobs that need to be filled. Some only take 1 hour.
The fun starts at 9:30 pm and continues until 4:30 am. Parents have worked very hard to ensure there is plenty of entertainment for everyone including rock wall climbing, archery, photo booths, casino games, prizes, Karaoke, music, dancing, keepsake character drawings and many other activities. Prize raffle begins at 4:00 am.
We HIGHLY recommend that senior students be dropped off and picked up. In the past, parents have carpooled to make drop off and pick up more efficient. Students are usually very tired at the end of a long graduation day and Grad Night. Driving home from the event is not recommended.
Senior parent volunteers will be supervising students inside and outside the venue. Parent Security Volunteers will be patrolling the City Community Center parking lot to ensure their safety when coming and going.
There is a theater area for those that need a power nap. Students can rest in chairs and/or bean bags and watch a movie or sleep. There is also a medical first aid area if they feel ill. If a student needs to go home, their parents are called and only THEIR PARENTS MAY PICK THEM UP even if they are 18. Should the student choose to leave and is not ill, they will forfeit the Grad Night prizes they have won and will not be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing at 4:00 am.
To ensure that the event remains a Safe and Grad Night, purses and/or backpacks are prohibited. Lockers are not available. Bring only what can be easily carried (camera, phones, yearbook…that’s it). A First Aid booth with be provided.
